Here's
a new trip for us that we're excited to bring you. It's
a wonderful combination of 2 great French cities along with time
in Burgundy for their countryside and wine tasting tours.
We
start off with 4-nights in Paris,
France's capital. Paris is a global center for art, fashion, gastronomy
and culture. Its 19th-century cityscape is crisscrossed by wide
boulevards and the River Seine. Beyond such landmarks as the Eiffel
Tower and the 12th-century, Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral, the city
is known for its cafe culture and designer boutiques along the
Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Welcome to the mesmerizing
realm of Paris, a city where every cobblestone holds whispers
of history and every avenue unfurls a tapestry of experiences.
Each neighborhood is a world of its own, a unique chapter in this
epic novel of art, culture, and life. From the bohemian spirit
of Montmartre to the timeless elegance of the Latin Quarter and
the ancient heartbeat of the Ile de la Cité, Paris city
is a kaleidoscope of emotions waiting to be explored. Our hotel
is perfectly situated, just a 15-minute walk to the Eiffel Tower
and some of the best sites.
We'll
set up optional tours to visit the Louvre, Notre-Dame, Palace
of Versailles, Arc de Triomphe and Champs Élysées.
How about a bike tour? There's so much to do and see but we'll
make every effort to offer the best of Paris. Here's
a website that will give you a good idea of things to
do. Give us some time to work out the details and we're sure you'll
be delighted with our itinerary.
From
there we head south into Burgundy and our wine tasting portion
of this trip. And it's more than wine tasting - you'll enjoy these
charming towns and scenery along with way as well. We'll have
2-stops of 3-nights each with 6 visits to the best wineries in
the area - all included in your package! We've done quite a bit
of research and have consulted with a local guide and wine tour
expert to set up these visits. Winery tours in Burgundy are normally
quite pricey so we're sure our trip with these tours included
is an amazing value. We'll stay in Dijon, in the heart of Burgundy
for 3-nights. On our way we'll begin our wine tour with a stop
in Chablis.
Dijon
is the capital city of the historical Burgundy region in eastern
France, one of the countrys principal wine-making areas.
Its known for its traditional mustard, vineyard tours, autumn
gastronomic fair and building styles ranging from Gothic to art
deco. The distinguished 1787 Musée des Beaux-Arts, housed
in the vast Palace of the Dukes, holds a rich collection of paintings,
sculptures, crafts and antiquities. If you love cities filled
with beautiful, historic buildings. If you love fantastic food
and wonderful wines. And if you love museums, galleries, sitting
at terraced cafés watching the world go by as
you sip a delicious local wine, impossibly fabulous street markets,
great wine bars and a vibrant friendly vibe then add Dijon
to your must see list. This amazing city has all these things
by the bucket load
and more. Cobbled streets, grand squares,
half-timbered houses, a huge palace, narrow alleyways lined with
medieval buildings and even a magic owl.
We
will enjoy a day tour to Beaune in the heart of Burgundy with
a visit to a winery. This French city (which is pronounced 'bun')
is gateway not only to the Burgundy wine region, but also to the
wine regions of Beaujolais to the south and Champagne to the north.
The city was well established as a wine trading post by the 13th
century. With polychrome roofs on ancient stone buildings, this
is a walled and wealthy town. We may also set up an optional
bicycling tour that seems like a wonderful way to get
some exercise and explore the region as well as taste more wines!
From
Dijon we'll continue south to the city of Lyon. In route we'll
make a stop at another winery in the Beaujolais area. A UNESCO
World Heritage Site with 2,000 years of history imprinted on its
streets (yes, the cobblestone kind). Explore this history in Vieux
Lyon (one of Europe's most extensive Renaissance
neighborhoods) and Lyon's two Roman amphitheatres. Commanding
a strategic spot at the confluence of the Rhône and the
Saône Rivers, Lyon has been luring people ever since the
Romans named it Lugdunum in 43 BC. Commercial, industrial and
banking powerhouse for the past 500 years, Lyon is France's third-largest
city, and offers today's urban explorers a wealth of enticing
experiences. We'll enjoy our 3-days in Lyon with all the fantastic
sight-seeing opportunities including the Basilique Notre Dame
de Fourvière, Musée des Beaux-Arts, Basilique Notre
Dame de Fourvière, Place des Terreaux. Here's a cool article:
Why
Lyon is one of France's most underrated cites.
We
will have a guided walking tour of Lyon on the 27th and then a
full day tour of the countryside and Rhone Valley on the 28th.
We will visit
Pérouges, a commune in the in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
region in Eastern France. A medieval walled town perched on a
small hill that overlooks the plain of the river Ain. We will
then pass through Côtes du Rhône wine road
one of France's most engaging starts at Avignon's doorstep
and winds along a mountainous landscape carpeted with vines, studded
with warm stone villages, and presided over by wind-scarred Mont
Ventoux. The wines of the Côtes du Rhône (grown on
the côtes, or hillsides, of the Rhône River Valley)
are easy on the palate and on your budget. But this hospitable
place offers more than wine its hill-capping villages inspire
travel posters, its Roman ruins add a historical perspective,
and the locals seem as excited about their region as you are.Next
up is Vienne,
located between the Rhône River and the hills, has been
occupied since earliest Antiquity and is one of France's Cities
of Art and History. It has preserved a rich built heritage from
its long past, including monuments dating back to ancient times:
the imposing Temple of Augustus and Livia built in 1BC; the vast
1st-century AD Théâtre Antique, one of the largest
theatres in Roman Gaul; and the Garden of Cybele with its Gallo-Roman
archaeological remains, among others. We will end our day with
one more winery at Corps
du Loop.
We're
confident this will be another epic trip and we feel we've brought
it in at a very affordable price especially considering this is
high season and it's France. So let's sign you up! As always,
