This will be our
4th trip to this
incredible Central American country. Most people think of Belize only
as a diving resort, but it’s way more. It’s the jungle with many
ruins and archeological sites, and it’s also home to the worlds
second-largest barrier reef. Belize’s interior is a 65-percent
uninhabited wonderland of deep jungle rain forest, exotic native
species, and myriad Mayan temples. We’ll spend 4 nights in the Cayo
District in the heart of the Belize jungle featuring the
Guanacaste Park
which is filled with wildlife. Our accommodations are at
Cahal Pech
which is on a hill overlooking the town and has ruins right next door
plus a swimming
pool and fun bar. We’ll go horseback riding in the jungle,
canoeing and explore Mayan Ruins. One of our tours will have us
floating on an innertube through
7 miles of underground
river caves with only your headlamp to light your way. It’s one
of the coolest tours you will ever take. On our last trip we
discovered an incredible cave that is so much like an Indiana Jones
movie called
Actun Tunichil Muknal
(ATM for short) which is one of the only caves that has not been looted
and has all the original pottery is exactly how it was left hundreds
of years ago and even had a skeleton of a child that has been molded
to the floor with hundreds of years of calcification! We’ll also explore Tikal in
Guadamala, a city that flourished over 2,000 years ago, where they
created magnificent temples and excelled in the arts, astronomy and
culture. Then, we’ll fly over to Ambergris Caye for the next 4
nights. This long, slender island is just inside the famous barrier
reef with excellent visibility and coral reefs. This is home to some of
the best diving in the world such as Lighthouse Atoll and the
famous Blue Hole! There’s also a variety of tours available and
fun little shops and restaurants to enjoy, plus great nightlife!
Our resort there, called Sunbreeze,
is located on a beautiful stretch of beach, has a nice pool,
their own dive shop, bar and restaurant and is located a short walk from
town. We’ll snorkel, scuba dive and party! Think it might be too hot in
the summer? It’s actually not bad at all. Cost, with air from LAX
(other gateways available or you can subtract $350 and arrange your own
flight) and the
8-nights accommodations is just $1,389*.
That’s a great deal on this trip. $200 deposit to sign up.
